About Us
My name is Lorraine, I was born in Wollongong NSW on 16th January 19??, never mind the year. I have a gorgeous family and I can say that because it is true. I moved to Gulgong 6 years ago and love it here with my wonderful partner Hugo. Chile was Hugo's birth place, he speaks Spanish which I have tried to learn, but have come to the conclusion you cannot teach an old girl to speak Spanish.
Who would have thought I would go from a sea change to a tree change leaving my children, grandchildren and home town, how things change when you meet someone special in your life, but here I am out west and loving it. I guess the Angels had my path in life decided a long time ago. I have been up to my elbows in all kind of things, things that I never thought I would do, it did not work telling Hugo that I was a girly, girl.
Rats and mice jumping out of the chook feed container and scampering around inside the house and even onto my lap while watching TV, I must say they are very friendly mice just like country people. And cutting the wing feathers of the chooks, didnt like that much and driving the old farm truck that I could hardly reach the break or accelerator, learning to shoot a gun to scare off the roos and possums so they didn't destroy our garden and hawks from swooping down to take our day old chickens, very devestating for me to see that happening. I was hopeless at shooting, so gave that up, and took up using a sling shot to scare the chooks from the garden, well that was a mistake, the stone from the sling shot landed at my feet,,,,,very scary stuff.
Loading compost from the local tip and shovelling sheep shit from under the sheep sheering shed on a neighbours property, I am sure that is not what the angels had in store for me.
We now have a fence around the house so roos do not get in and demolish the garden. Mr Donald and Miss Daisy, soon to be Mrs Daisy Donald. The hatching happened while we were away 5 ducklings adding to the family, sooo cute. Goon the Rooster with his harem, all the girls love him. Add two sheep to that list, and now they had lambs this year. Then there are the goats, Nelly + her new babies Wippy & Snippy, thanks Rose for coming up with those great names for the new kids. Penny, Hugo not happy that she is not with kid as per last year, poor Penny past away. Abby beautiful girl from Nelly last year doing great and is in Kid this year we hope. Andy her twin is living on another farm and very happy with a donkey as his best friend. Forky, named by Hugo because she was fitted with a fork stick to stop her getting through the fence, we think she is in kid. What busy farm grandparents we are, all we need now is two rocking chairs, a pipe each a rifle beside us on the verandah and we will be Ma & Pa Tighe, wicked thought.
